My life as UX Designer.

The future is here: Biometric Mobile App

Created. February 2016

Industry. Fintech Company (Facial Recognition)

During my time working in FacePhi, I did different kind of tasks apart from designing. I remember when the R&D team was in charge for designing the software that they made. But, honestly, I don't remember when this started to change and FacePhi began to gave more importance to the UI and UX.

Here it was when I started my passion for UX Design and I discovered what I wanted to be.

Selphi was my first work as UI designer and it was a completely challenge for me. This app is a demo that simulates a banking mobile application but with a new alternative access: facial recognition technology.

I was helped by Research team, starting this project by analyzing biometrics sector but putting attention on how fingerprint users behaved with that biometry. Nowadays, fingerprint is the most common biometry, for that reason we were focused on it.

Our main goal was to provide the best user experience and onboarding when the users have to register their face to make the technology work efficiently. So, in that step we had to tell the users if they were doing a good job and, if there was any problem, also we had to tell them why (lights conditions, pose, sunglasses, etc). In this way, the communication between the technology (the app) and the user was extremely important for us.

Once we had a strong prototype, we did some tests with personas in different scenarios with different lights conditions until we have all the customer experience closed.

You can see a video of how the App works here.

Selphi was presented in February 2016 at the Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona and at Money2020 in Las Vegas.
